Waterlight Save Initiative Calls for Global Action on Water and Sanitation at UN Conference At the 2026 UN Water Conference in New York, the President of the Water LIGHTSAVE Initiative Ero Ibhafidon, emphasized the urgent need for resilient infrastructure, global partnerships, policy advocacy, and behavioral change to tackle the ongoing challenges of access to clean water and sanitation. In his address, he called for a public enlightenment campaign to educate communities on proper water usage and sanitation practices, highlighting that the conference presents a crucial opportunity to accelerate global efforts toward achieving Sustainable Development Goal 6 (SDG 6)—ensuring clean water and sanitation for all. “Water insecurity is a silent catastrophe,” he stated. “One in every three people lacks access to safe drinking water, and every two minutes, a child dies from a waterborne disease. Climate change is further exacerbating this crisis, drying up rivers and contaminating vital water sources.” The initiative stressed the importance of sustainable water management, urging world leaders, organizations, and stakeholders to prioritize long-term solutions. Recommendations included: 1. Investing in resilient water infrastructure to ensure reliable access to clean water. 2. Strengthening global partnerships to mobilize funding and expertise. 3. Advocating for policy reforms that promote equitable access to sanitation. 4. Encouraging behavioral change through hygiene education and water conservation efforts. As the world battles increasing water scarcity, the Water LIGHTSAVE Initiative reaffirmed its commitment to driving impactful change through collaborative action, innovation, and advocacy. The call to action is clear: immediate, collective efforts are required to prevent further crises and ensure a future where clean water is accessible to all.

Waterlight Save Initiative Advocates for Women’s Empowerment at the United Nations Dr. Ero Ibhafidon, President of the Water, Light, Save Initiative, recently advocated for women in underserved African communities during the informal consultation on the revitalization of the Commission on the Status of Women at the United Nations Headquarters in New York. He addressed critical issues such as gender-based violence, insufficient education, and health hazards faced by women in Africa. Dr. Ibhafidon highlighted the persistent challenges faced by women, despite their significant contributions to social, economic, and political development. He emphasized the need for policies that focus on economic empowerment, such as supporting women entrepreneurship, improving access to financial resources, providing business training, and creating sustainable income opportunities. He also called for improved access to quality education, vocational training, and digital literacy programs to increase employment opportunities. Strengthening healthcare and reproductive rights was another priority, with a focus on expanding maternal and child healthcare, combating preventable diseases, and improving reproductive health services, especially in remote areas. Waterlight Save Initiative Empowers Female Street Sweepers in Lagos, Calls for Government Support Waterlight Save Initiative, a non-governmental organization, has launched a health and empowerment program in Lagos to support female street sweepers. The initiative, held at the Lagos State Waste Management Agency (LAWMA) premises in Ijora, aims to enhance the well-being of these women by providing essential supplies, healthcare support, and empowerment opportunities. Speaking at the event, Dr. Ero Ibhafidon, President and Founder of Waterlight Save Initiative, described street sweepers as the unsung heroes of the city. Despite their crucial role in keeping Lagos clean, they often face harsh working conditions, limited healthcare access, and little recognition for their efforts. “These women work tirelessly to maintain cleaner environments for millions of residents, yet they remain largely unappreciated,” he stated. “They embody resilience and dedication but continue to struggle with inadequate support.” Beyond providing material assistance, the program serves as a platform for dialogue, allowing the sweepers to share their challenges and collaborate on sustainable solutions. Homelessness in Atlanta: Waterlight Save Initiative offer Relief to the unhoused

Atlanta, GA – In a heartfelt effort to support Atlanta’s homeless community, Waterlight Save Initiative (WSI) hosted an outreach event today, October 26, 2024, at the Tent City encampment. The outreach was led by Dr. Prince Ero Ibhafidon, Founder and President of WSI. Addressing homelessness in Atlanta  was part of the organization’s ongoing commitment to alleviate poverty, foster resilience, and extend a helping hand to unhoused underserved communities. Providing Essential Support to the Homeless With Dr. Ero Ibhafidon at the forefront, the Waterlight Save Initiative provided nutritious meals, essential relief items, and personal hygiene kits to hundreds of individuals facing homelessness in Atlanta. This event reflects WSI’s mission to uplift marginalized populations through tangible support and community engagement, fulfilling its larger vision of poverty alleviation and resilience building.
